Welcome! Learn here about an
exciting book project on international community psychology ...
Many
academics as well as
practitioners have commented frequently on the lack of an international
perspective to the development of the field. This has been especially
true at international conferences and in CP courses.
Currently,
the bulk of books available on the topic focus exclusively on the
history, theories, and practice of CP in the United States. A few
honourable exceptions exist, concentrating on CP in Britain, South
Africa, and Italy.
As
of yet, there is no book available that describes the history and
theories of CP internationally and no effort has been made to compare
the development of CP in other countries comprehensively.
This
is a gap in the field that is surprising considering its strong emphasis
on contextualism, diversity, and cultural perspectives as well as the
existence of numerous close collaborations between international
community psychologists.
Our
goal is to fill this gap by editing a book with the title:
International Community Psychology: History & Theories. Community
psychologists from around the world contribute to this project by
writing a chapter that provides an insight into the unique historical
development and theoretical basis of CP in their country or region.
